Plane crashes, sparking a blaze in 15 San Diego homes: "There's fuel everywhere."

San Diego woke up amid flames and debris. A Cessna 550 Citation II light aircraft, reportedly registered as N666DS, crashed around 3:47 a.m. local time in the Tierrasanta military neighborhood near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.

According to preliminary reports from authorities, media, and reporters on the scene, the impact caused a fireball that destroyed at least 15 homes and multiple vehicles, forcing the evacuation of several entire blocks. Official spokespersons described the incident as a "direct impact on multiple homes."

Witnesses report that there was dense fog at the time of the accident, which would have severely reduced visibility. Firefighters, police, and military personnel responded to the scene to contain the fires and rescue any trapped victims.

Images captured by local and national media show the magnitude of the disaster: completely burned vehicles, collapsed roofs, and aircraft wreckage strewn across the streets.

Deputy Fire Chief Dan Eddy said:

"There's jet fuel everywhere. Our goal is to search every home and get everyone out immediately."

The affected neighborhood is part of a military residential complex. The number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but the material damage is considerable.

Unofficial reports indicate that it was a private business flight attempting to land, unsuccessfully, on the city's executive runway.
